Ronald V. Dellums the peope's voice

In an article: "Smear by Caricature", prior the the city of Oakland Mayoral election June 2006. Paul Rockwell wrote: "It is a rare moment when a beleaguered city gets an opportunity to elect a statesmen. Ron Dellums, a practical visionary, is one of the most respected Congress persons in the world. Remembered for his role in helping to end apartheid in So. Africa, for stopping production of the heinous Mx missile, his is returning home to Oakland a city he served for over thirty years."
The article is full of media views of who Ron Dellums is or what his qualifications are. Continuing Mr. Rockwell questions: "There is a kind of hypocrisy in the way the chronicle(a bay area news source) turns Dellum's virtues, his brilliant record of service, against him. The attempt to disqualify a Congressman is especially galling in a state where third-rate actors(Reagan and Swartzenegger) become Governors. Is Hollywood better preparation for the nuts-and-bolts of public service than Congress?"
With an opportunity to listen to Mr. Dellums during a forum sponsored by the BSU department at Merritt College of Oakland, Ca. This man of prestige and notoriety made time to hear the concerns and expectations of the people he was inspired to serve, in a city where crime and murder are as common as burger joints.
Clear with his vision and solutions to the cities problems this humble-spirited man spoke with honesty and clarity offering his experience as a tool and guide to address the injustices that plague that city. Excited and positive this man would be an asset and a role model for the hopeless and deprived citizens of Oakland, I obtained and read the book "Lying with lions" by H. Lee Halterman and Ron V. Dellums.
Concurring with the sentiments of Paul Rockwell, it burdens me that many of the people Mr. Dellums has represented in the face and sometimes the mouth of "lions" are unaware of what produced the liberties cities and states across the Nation obtain. He advocates progress and equality of America and the world. Not limiting himself to a race or color-Mr. Dellums is human. The book read like a mental motion picture, it was like being a fly on the wall in Berkeley, Ca., Washington, D.C. and So. Africa.
The book answered the questions who he is and what his causes were and continue to be. In my view Ronald V. Dellums should be supported because he cares. He could be on a private Island somewhere sipping Long Island ice tea, but he chose to become involved once again with the existence and future of the city of Oakland and the world.
Hear the voice in the book about his agenda, read his words about running. Isn't that the most profound purpose for implementation and governance?
Chip Johnson a columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle makes it his agenda to criticize Mr. Dellums character rather than address the fundamentals of politics. It takes a community to raise a child, and people to run a city. One man cannot undo decades of neglect in a city just as one man cannot undo centuries of illegality by a country. Ronald V. Dellums is the Mayor of Oakland, Ca. and Barak H. Obama is the President of the USA. Welcome the energy and embrace this moment in history. Some sites to view Mayor Ronald V.
