When I think of worship I envision the Spirit of Israel's second appointed and Anointed King(2. Samuel 02:01-07/2. Samuel 05:01-05). Biblical David is described as "a man after GOD'S OWN HEART(1. Samuel 13:14/Acts 13:22)". I also reflect on a scene from the movie, "Crazy as hell" when the character known as "Satan" does a solo dance performance to the song, "pick up the pieces". The form and movement of this character bought every note of music to life.
Scripture informs us that Saul's(Israel's first appointed King) daughter and David's wife Michal despised the dance performance of David toward his GOD(2. Samuel 06:16-23).
"Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, 'How glorious was the king of Israel today uncovering himself in the eyes of the maids of his servants, as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!'
So David said to Michal, 'It was before THE LORD, WHO CHOSE me instead of your father and all his house, to APPOINT me Ruler over the people of THE LORD, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before THE LORD. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor." Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.(verses 20-23)".
David was dedicated to Worship ALMIGHTY GOD whenever he was presented an opportunity. He played the harp to console King Saul as a young shepherd boy. He is considered the author of many of the Psalms recorded in Scripture but the display of rage and jealousy from his wife because of his efforts to submit his whole body and soul to please THE GOD of his youth, truly an epitome of Worship. David danced, Noah built, Job suffered and JESUS death all represent Worship. Giving GOD the GLORY for WHO HIS IS and WHAT HE ACCOMPLISHES.
David proclaimed, Michal can be shamed but he and the servants would humble themselves before THE LORD and Worship HIM. Deal with it!
I searched the net to get an understanding of dance and worship and found:

"Dance (from French danser, perhaps from Frankish) is a sport and art form that generally refers to movement of the body, usually rhythmic and to music,[1] used as a form of expression, social interaction or presented in a spiritual or performance setting.
Dance may also to regarded as a form of nonverbal communication between humans, and is also performed by other animals (bee dance, patterns of behaviour such as a mating dance). Gymnastics, figure skating and synchronized swimming are sports dance disciplines, while martial arts kata are often compared to dances. Motion in inanimate objects may also be described as dances (the leaves danced in the wind), and certain musical forms or genres.
Definitions of what constitutes dance are dependent on social, cultural, aesthetic, artistic and moral constraints and range from functional movement (such as folk dance) to virtuoso techniques such as ballet. Dance can be participatory, social or performed for an audience. It can also be ceremonial, competitive or erotic. Dance movements may be without significance in themselves, such as in ballet or European folk dance, or have a gestural vocabulary/symbolic system as in many Asian dances. Dance can embody or express ideas, emotions or tell a story.
Dancing has evolved many styles. Breakdancing and Krumping are related to the hip hop culture. African dance is interpretive. Ballet, Ballroom, Waltz, and Tango are classical styles of dance while Square and the Electric Slide are forms of step dances.
Every dance, no matter what style, has something in common. It not only involves flexibility and body movement, but also physics. If the proper physics is not taken into consideration, injuries may occur.
Dance categories by number of interacting dancers are mainly solo dance, partner dance and group dance. Dance is performed for various purposes like ceremonial dance, erotic dance, performance dance, social dance etc.
Dancing and music
See also: Category:Music genres
Many early forms of music and dance were created and performed together. This paired development has continued through the ages with dance/music forms such as: jig, waltz, tango, disco, salsa, electronica and hip-hop. Some musical genres also have a parallel dance form such as baroque music and baroque dance whereas others developed separately: classical music and classical ballet.
Although dance is often accompanied by music, it can also be presented independently or provide its own accompaniment (tap dance). Dance presented with music may or may not be performed in time to the music depending on the style of dance. Dance performed without music is said to be danced to its own rhythm.
Ballroom dancing is an art although it may incorporates many fitness components using an artistic state of mind.
Choreography is the art of creating dances. The person who creates (i.e., choreographs) a dance is known as the choreographer.
Origins and history of dance
Main article: History of dance
Eighteenth century social dance. Translated caption: A cheerful dance awakens love and feeds hope with lively joy, (Florence, 1790).
Dance does not leave behind clearly identifiable physical artifacts such as stone tools, hunting implements or cave paintings. It is not possible to say when dance became part of human culture. Dance has certainly been an important part of ceremony, rituals, celebrations and entertainment since before the birth of the earliest human civilizations. Archeology delivers traces of dance from prehistoric times such as the 9,000 year old Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka paintings in India and Egyptian tomb paintings depicting dancing figures from circa 3300 BC.
One of the earliest structured uses of dances may have been in the performance and in the telling of myths. It was also sometimes used to show feelings for one of the opposite gender. It is also linked to the origin of "love making." Before the production of written languages, dance was one of the methods of passing these stories down from generation to generation. [2]
Another early use of dance may have been as a precursor to ecstatic trance states in healing rituals. Dance is still used for this purpose by many cultures from the Brazilian rainforest to the Kalahari Desert.[3]
Sri Lankan dances goes back to the mythological times of aboriginal yingyang twins and "yakkas" (devils). According to a Sinhalese legend, Kandyan dances originate, 250 years ago, from a magic ritual that broke the spell on a bewitched king. Many contemporary dance forms can be traced back to historical, traditional, ceremonial, and ethnic dance."
A search for worship produced from the same site:
"Worship literally means "worth-ship". Giving worth to something.[1] In its older sense in English of worthiness or respect (Anglo-Saxon,worthscripe), worship may on occasion refer to an attitude towards someone of immensely elevated social status, such as a lord or a monarch, or, more loosely, towards an individual, such as a hero or one's lover.
'Worship' is quite often used to refer to acts, expressions and/or a state of religious devotion typically directed to one or more deities.
Evelyn Underhill defines worship thus: "The adoring acknowledgment of all that lies beyond us—the glory that fills heaven and earth. It is the response that conscious beings make to their Creator, to the Eternal Reality from which they came forth; to God, however they may think of Him or recognize Him, and whether He be realized through religion, through nature, through history, through science, art, or human life and character."[2]
An expression of worship may be performed individually, or corporately within informal groups, or a formal meeting, or Representative, by a designated leader. Religious worship can occur in a variety of locations including houses, rented venues, out in the open, or in purpose-built structures identified as places of worship. Many religious traditions place an emphasis on regular worship and may organize meetings for the purpose at frequent intervals, often daily or weekly. Expressions of worship vary between faiths but typically include one or more of the following:
prayer; sacrifice; rituals; meditation; holidays, festivals; sacraments; pilgrimages; participatory or observed music or singing; dance; dining; fasting; public readings; listening to a public talk or sermon; the construction of temples or shrines; the creation of idols of the deity; private acts of devotion."
Can you picture David leaping and swirling gracefully to the rhythm of tambourines and cymbals honoring THE LORD for the triumphs and tribulations that confirmed GOD'S APPROVAL of David as King?
However, David was also human and sometimes his zeal for the level of achievement under GOD'S DIRECTION led David to depend on himself and he would find himself without GOD'S PROTECTION or APPROVAL.
David would connive and manipulate, deceive and murder. He disobeyed GOD by counting the camp and commiting adultery as well as constructing the murder of the husband of the woman with whom he sinned. Eventually losing his reign and the building of a Temple for GOD to his son Solomon who would eventually fall into the same sins of his father allowing the worship of foreign gods.
The reason David gained the title, "man after MY OWN HEART" was because he was Repentant. Upon realizing his error he would fall into Repentance and Worship.
He wouldn't call everyone who would listen and speak depression and self pity into existence thereby giving power to negative energy while denying positivity. His response was to relent, repent and restore his role of leader by the authority of the ALMIGHTY GOD(Psalm 51 entirely).
Another testiment to the relationship between GOD and Israel's King David is evidenced by the compassion and emotion poured out of a song David wrote in Psalm 68, "Let GOD arise, Let HIS enemies be scattered; Let those also who hate HIM flee before HIM. As smoke is driven away, So drive them away; As wax melts before the fire, So let the wicked perish at the PRESENCE OF GOD. But let the Righteous be glad; Let them Rejoice before GOD; Yes, let them Rejoice exceedingly.
Sing to GOD, sing Praises to HIS Name; Extol HIM WHO RIDES ON THE CLOUDS, By HIS NAME YAH, And Rejoice before HIM. A Father of the fatherless, a defender of widows is GOD in HIS HOLY HABITATION."
Let us dance like David danced and love like JESUS LOVED and the energy will transform the residue into recycled praise. Find common ground and begin healing from that point. Welcome change and embrace the unknown with compassion and worship.
